Description: The National Natural Monument Pravčická brána is a rock gate formed in blocky sandstones of Cretaceous origin. It is located in northwest Bohemia in the territory of the Czech Switzerland National Park, about 3 km northeast of the village of Hřensko in the Děčín District. With a span of 26.5 meters and a height of 16 meters, it is the largest sandstone rock gate in Europe. It is one of the most visited sites and at the same time a symbol of the Czech Switzerland National Park, under whose administration it falls. The protected area includes not only the sandstone gate itself, but also the surrounding rock massifs and partly built-up area (Sokolí hnízdo castle). Pravčická brána belongs to the Czech Switzerland NP as well as to the Labské pískovce bird area.
