There are numerous occasions when, traveling to the Pyrenees via the N-230 road, we observed to our right, at the height between Areny and Sopeira, a wide expanse of territory surrounded by mountains; to the north, the Serra de Sant Gervàs with its shining limestone cliffs which we already knew, but to the east a mountain range caught our attention, also showing high walls but of darker appearance and which we assumed were composed of conglomerate rock. In conclusion, after so much time passing it by on the way to the high peaks of the Pyrenees, we decided to find out about this small geographic area and organize an outing there.
