Description:
When we use the term baffle it is in reference to a ‘baffle mesh’ – the walls of fabric that divide a boxwall sleeping bag into chambers. The height of a baffle is determined by the measure between the lining of the sleeping bag and the outer shell. Down with a higher fill power, or a higher fill weight will require more space, but too much baffle height makes the shell saggy, adds weight, and allows cold spots to occur. Conversely, too little baffle height can restrict the down’s ability to loft, resulting in an under-performing bag.
