The hike from Walchensee to Heimgarten (1790m) and then via beautiful ridge to Herzogstand (1731m) is a real classic in the Voralpen. The view is super, the path very beautiful and varied – never really difficult – and at the summit of Heimgarten (Heimgartenhütte) as well as a bit below Herzogstand (Berggasthof Herzogstand) two beautiful, scenic huts await the tired hiker. Downhill is quick on a good path (as described here), or knee-friendly with the affordable Herzogstandbahn. In our view, the most beautiful way to the well-known – and heavily frequented – classic in the Alps. Tip!
