Description:
Adamello Park. Start from Malga Caldea m 1584 in Val d’Avio, reachable by car on a narrow and bumpy dirt road from Temù. Once parked, take the hairpin bends in steep ascent leading above Lago d’Avio. From here proceed flat admiring wonderful panoramic views. Skirt Lago d’Avio m. 1900 and Lago Benedetto m. 1929. Tackle a short ascent passing the waterfall to Malga Lavedole m. 2044, located on a plateau with a grandiose alpine landscape dominated by the peaks of Adamello and Corno Bianco. Cross the stream and tackle the steep and tiring “calvary”, famous military mule track of the Great War. Reach the dam of Val Venerocolo, pass the church dedicated to the fallen and finally arrive at Rifugio Garibaldi m 2553 at the foot of the north face of Adamello. Historically valuable itinerary as this was the path followed by the alpini during the First World War to access the front line on the glaciers.
