Magnificent excursion on the slopes of Cevedale starting from Malga Mare.
The itinerary we propose is a circular one in the municipality of Peio. Starting from Malga Mare climb to Lago Careser - an artificial basin built in 1931 to exploit the waters from the Careser glacier for electricity production. Then, before reaching the refuge, you encounter two other stunning mountain lakes: Lago Lungo, Lago Nero and Lago delle Marmotte. During the crossing there is a spectacular view of the opposite glaciers and especially on Monte Cevedale, one of the most important peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale Group. Rifugio Larcher al Cevedale is located in Val Venezia, in front of Vedretta de la Mare, Cime del Cevedale, Zufall, Palon de la Mare and Viòz.
