From Pozza di Fassa we drive up the de Meida road and park just before the campsite and vehicle transit ban (limited transit). We walk the road for 1.5 km and at Malga Al Crocefisso 1526 m turn right into Valle dei Monzoni, marker 603 to Malga Monzoni, continue on the trail and in about 30 minutes reach Rifugio Torquato Taramelli 2046 m. We descend to Malga Monzoni and once past it turn right on trail 603A which climbs through a forest to the grassy saddle where we cross Forcella del Pief 2184 m. We descend through pastures on trail 640 and after 15 minutes reach Lagusel (or Lauscel) 2103 m. We continue in steep descent on a forest road called “Strada dei Russi” and through a fir forest arrive at locality Sauch 1735 m. We cross the bridge over Rio San Nicolò and on the Val San Nicolò road return to the parking lot.
