02-06-2022: Distance 12.700 km, elevation gain 670 m. At the “Al Laghetto” chalet (1458 m), we follow trail 381 which ascends the southeastern ridge of Salubio with various switchbacks, almost always immersed in the forest. We continue moderately uphill to cross the pass near Cima Valboagna (1808 m). Here the landscape changes and the view finally opens to the opposite side northwest toward Monte Ziolera, Ciste, Cola, and the more distant Panarotta. We turn north to soon encounter a sign with dual indications (Cima Salubio-Forcella Lavoschio) where the path to the summit becomes quite steep. We reach the summit and after a short break descend and prepare for the ascent to nearby Cima Castel Cucco. The two peaks are separated by a small basin and a short ridge. The small peak, with an iron cross, offers a beautiful panorama over the Lagorai chain from Cima d’Asta to Panarotta, and over the underlying Valsugana. We descend from the summit and head toward Malga Lavoschietto to close the loop and return to the “Al Laghetto” chalet.
