Description:
The rock city of Tiské stěny is located on the southern edge of the Krušné hory fault, in the western extension of the Labské pískovce Protected Landscape Area. Just like the entire Labské pískovce, Tiské stěny formed approximately 85–100 million years ago during the Mesozoic era on the seabed. Layers of sandy sediments gradually accumulated here, and sandstones formed through their subsequent hardening. Rock cities and rock towers are the result of erosion by wind, sun, and rain. Erosion began shaping the landscape after the sea receded. The result of long development is a rock city with countless crevices, cracks, cavities, niches, and tunnels.
