Description: The first mention of the castle is in a 1272 charter, but its construction may have begun before 1255. After King Matthias's death in 1490, the castle could have fallen victim to Habsburg Maximilian's incursions, but on the order of Pál Kinizsi, it began to be turned into a fortress under the command of Ágoston Leányfalusi, Kinizsi's castellan of Somló. Thanks to this, no later Turkish siege could capture it.
