Description:
The history of the original castle dates back to the 12th century.
Between 1609 and 1610, Achaz Fenzl had the fortress converted into a Renaissance castle. Another important enlargement took place between 1680 and 1690 under Sigmund Friedrich Freiherr von Engl. The castle was probably built on the remains of a ring wall around the old castle, and the still usable masonry was used as building material for the castle.
