Description: Is this Austria's most beautiful lake? Perhaps it is! Welcome to Salfeinssee in Tyrol. The hike starts at Kemater Alm, located at an altitude of 1,670 metres. To get there, you have to take a toll road from Grinzens that runs through the Sender Valley. From the mountain pasture, I first reached the summit of the Grieskogel (2,158 metres) and then descended towards Salfeinssee (1,980 metres). The view of the Kalkkögel range, part of the Stubai Alps and known as the Dolomites of the North, is wonderful from both the summit and the lake. From the lake, I then completed the circular route by returning to the Kemater Alm. The hike is about 12 km long with an elevation gain of 800 metres.
