Beautiful excursion, a must-do classic for mountain bikers in Sappada.
Starting from Sappada descend to Forni Avoltri. To avoid some asphalt, use the old state road: at the border curve, evident flat hairpin, pass the guardrail and follow the dirt road; when back on asphalt (about 2.5 km) turn left slightly uphill to the Piani di Luzza tourist complex. At the roundabout take right downhill, 50 m and at first curve leave asphalt straight into the woods following dirt road. After few hundred meters cross state road and descend to Forni. Before Forni take road to Goccia di Carnia; here starts the climb, first 1.5 km asphalt, then at Comunità S.Marco sign turn left to dirt. At first junction right ford small stream next to broken old bridge. Continue climbing, after descent cross another bridge sharp hairpin keep left into hardest part. Out of woods climbing to Malga Casera Vecchia, last effort to asphalt Val Sesis road. Turn right and in minutes to Piave Springs. From here to Sappada all downhill (Val Sesis road).
