Description: This hike starts at the Pahlhus Information Centre of the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve and first leads through a limestone flat moor located in a silted-up bay of the Schaalsee. After crossing the moor on a boardwalk, it continues along the shore of the Schaalsee to the Schaale, the lake's natural outflow. After a short detour to an enchanted place, the path leads alternately on a wide track and a narrow trail through former properties of the GDR border troops, where straying from the hiking trail should be strictly avoided (danger to life). Then over the tracks of the Hagenow-Land-Zarrentin railway line, which now only has very occasional freight traffic. This railway line is a section of the former Kaiserbahn, which continued to Ratzeburg. Finally, the forest is left behind and on a field path past the Schaalmühle (private property, no recordings) and then finally back to Zarrentin via a cosy picturesque country lane.
