The municipality Schnepfau appears as an elongated valley plain bounded by mountains on three sides: to the north by Hirschberg, Schnepfegg and Gopf, to the east by Mittagsflug and Giblerkopf, and to the south by Kanisfluh. It consists of the three localities Schnepfau, Hirschau and Schnepfegg.
