Description:
Video of the hike to Cima Pisciadù via the Tridentina via ferrata. We are on the north side of the Sella dolomitic group in Alta Badia, on the border with Val Gardena. The route starts just below Passo Gardena, on the road to Colfosco, near the sixth hairpin bend. The via ferrata was opened on July 10, 1960 by alpine guide Germano Kostner who, with the help of the Alpini of the Tridentina Brigade, to which the route is dedicated, designed direct access to Rifugio Pisciadù. The via ferrata, with many holds and never difficult, allows reaching first the waterfall of Rio Pisciadù and then, after skipping a possible escape route, a path leading to Rifugio Pisciadù, climbs Torre Exner, the most demanding section. At the end of this passage we reach the iconic suspension bridge, symbol of the via ferrata. After crossing the bridge the via ferrata is almost over and after climbing a last vertical wall, we find ourselves on a magnificent plateau leading to Rifugio Franco Cavazza al Pisciadù, owned by CAI Bologna, at 2587 meters. From here we descend towards the lake and skirt the right side of Valun di Pisciadù, passing right under the overhanging western wall of Pisciadù. After a fixed-rope passage, we climb to Val de Tita (2816 m), where at the junction with signs we turn left, first overcoming a small wall and then the last meters on a non-mandatory path to the summit at 2985 meters. The view from here is stunning: in front of us towers Piz Boè, on whose summit Capanna Fassa is clearly recognizable. Then Marmolada, Tofane, Sassongher and Val Badia, the Cir group, Odle and Sassolungo. Once back at the hut, the return follows Alta Via 2 descending via CAI trail 66 into Val de Setus, a steep descent through a detritic valley with some equipped sections. Hike of about 950 meters elevation gain and 12.5 km.
