Description: Video of the hike to Bivacco Luca Vuerich on Foronon del Buinz in the Montasio group. We are at 2531 meters in the heart of the magical Julian Alps. Dedicated to the memory of the young alpinist who passed away in 2010, it is one of the most panoramic bivouacs in the Alps. To reach it, one must follow the Sentiero Ceria Merlone, a beautiful equipped path dedicated to the Triestine alpinists Celestino Ceri and Ruggero Merlone, who died in 1965 on Monte Rosa. The via ferrata, connecting Montasio and Jôf Fuart, was inaugurated in 1971 by the Alpini Cividale Battalion in memory of the line held by the Alpini during the Great War on this ridge, facing the Austro-Hungarian artillery positioned on Jôf Fuart. From the Montasio plateau, we climb towards Rifugio Brazzà and then Cima di Terrarossa. At 2285 m, just below the summit, we turn right starting the Sentiero Ceria Merlone which soon reaches Forcella de lis Sieris (2274 m). Here begin the equipped sections leading to the bivouac: Sella di Buinz (2460 m), Forca de la Val (2352 m), Forcella Cregnedul (2340 m) and Forcella Lavinal dell'Orso (2138 m). Here the via ferrata ends and the path continues towards Passo degli Scalini (2022 m). From now on it's only descent to the Cregnedul di sopra farmhouses (1515 m) and finally back to the Altopiano del Montasio. Hike of about 29 km and 1300 meters elevation gain.
