Description: The plan was to climb to Forcella del Lastron at 2790m and then continue to the summit of Lastron dei Scarperi with descent into Vallone della Lavina Bianca, but things don't always go as hoped. Along the ascent route, a wind slab, stressed by the weight of two ski-mountaineers traversing on foot though spaced about ten meters apart, suddenly collapsed and shattered, carrying Marco and an Austrian who was crossing lower on the same slab inescapably into the valley below. There were 6 of us at that point and by pure coincidence only 2 were involved. Marco miraculously escaped without consequences except for some bruises, while the unfortunate Austrian tumbled down the rocks face down, sustaining traumas and lacerations requiring mountain rescue intervention. We sincerely wish him a speedy recovery. After 1 hour waiting for rescue, we decided to continue the ascent to descend to the valley via the shortest route, but upon reaching the saddle we assessed that the underlying Lavina Bianca slope was too loaded with snow due to wind accumulation, and decided we'd already played our 'bonus' for today... and better to return via the ascent route. The descent will be long and tiring...
