Description:
ROUTE: From Cima Sappada follow the road to Piave Springs to the junction of Casera di Casa Vecchia 1740m. Leave the road and cross the pasture above, then enter the woods trying to follow the summer trail which is not always evident. Through a gully enter the evident west valley marking our route. Ascend it directly, carrying skis on back when it gets too steep (crampons recommended on hard snow), overcoming the narrow section which with poor snow cover may present a short rocky step. Easier now gain the saddle right of the rocky Cima delle Batterie from which rightwards ascend the broad summit dome of Monte Avanza.
