Snowshoe Hike to Sassauna from Fanas

With snowshoes, we wanted to hike from Fanas to the mountain inn Sassauna, which even without snow is a demanding tour due to the steepness in the lower section. We already know the tour, did it in winter 2019 and a variant in summer 2020. We hadn't been to the Sassauna summit itself yet, so we couldn't assess if it was possible with snowshoes under the current conditions. Up to the mountain inn, we had glorious weather, and with good refreshments and a dreamy view, the small hardships of the ascent were quickly forgotten. We decided to continue hiking and check out the summit ascent to Sassauna, and there we decided we could attempt the summit (2,300m), as there were already good tracks visible. It was super fun, and so we managed the tour with more than 1,400m difference after all! We were on the go for almost 7 hours and grateful that at the mountain inn at 1,650m we could still take the gondola down to the valley. A beautiful and highly recommended tour that we will surely do again soon! Have fun!!
