In Novate Mezzola (Sondrio), leaving the car at the park in Via del Castello (approximately: lat 46.22129 long 9.46037), at 9:00 we set foot on the paved path like a 'holy staircase', the only way to reach the small villages of Val Codera. Only Beppe (years ago) had walked it, while the rest of the group is eager to discover this unique valley. The goal is the Rifugio 'Luigi Brasca' at 1300 meters. The direction is obvious as there is no other way, squeezed between high peaks and the noisy course of the Torrente Codera. The whole valley is rich in water: waterfalls and fountains. Only after the main locality: Codera, does the valley widen hosting other small clusters, including Saline, Spiazzo and Bresciadega, the best located. We reach the CAI Refuge at 12:20. After an hour we return to the valley... naturally by the same itinerary.
