Spring hike from Oensingen to Balsthal (2021/05/14)

Oensingen lies at the edge of the Jura mountains. From here you can immediately climb up the steep path to the Ravellen ridge that overlooks the flatlands and the snow covered alps beyond. The path continues past Castle Neu Blechburg (closed when we passed, because of Corona, but usually open for visits) and up to the flower-covered meadows of Roggen. The flowers made for an extraordinarily beautiful landscape. From Roggen a forest path continues above rock faces with a view down on Balsthal. From Burg Alt Falkenstein we reached the old station Klus in 5 minutes. This is an easy Spring hike, very much recommended for a quick get-away into nature and the beginnings of mountains.
