Description: If you drive by car from Bad Ischl along the Traun to Ebensee, you will inevitably notice a long-stretched mountain ridge on your right. This is the westernmost part of the Toten Gebirge: A ridge several kilometers long that connects the Hohe Schrott (1839 m) in the south with the 1646-meter-high Petergupf in the north. Both summits are rewarding hiking destinations that only require some fitness. (The ridge crossing from Schrott to Petergupf, however, is somewhat more serious, requires surefootedness and absence of vertigo, and should only be undertaken in stable weather and dry conditions.)
