Already in 1970, the Austrian Alpine Club launched the 'Clean Mountains' campaign. Signs remind hikers and mountaineers not to leave waste behind and to keep the mountains clean. The topic of 'trash in the mountains' is repeatedly addressed in many actions and projects of the Alpine Club to raise awareness for 'Clean Mountains'.
