Description:
On this occasion we went up to Teide National Park to work at altitude. Working at altitude for a runner is extremely interesting, especially for fine-tuning. Starting from the Visitor Center at about 2000m we take one of the several trails that lead us to the base of the peak itself. Once there, a vertical climb to the volcanic cone begins, one of the good ones. If we already noticed the altitude at the start of the route, in this section much more so. In the end, we reached the refuge at about 3,300m altitude. We could continue to the highest point, but that requires a permit, which I didn't have. The day was sunny, perfect with few people, which we took advantage of to go at a steady pace. On the way back, we ran into Kiko, a great veteran runner very fond of trail races in the Canary Islands and on the mainland.
