Tematín Castle was built in the southwestern part of Považský Inovec on limestone-dolomite bedrock of the ridge of a side spur extending west from Bezovec between Lúčanská and Hrádocká valleys. At 564 meters above sea level, it ranks among the higher-situated castles and is a prominent landmark of Central Považie. It belongs to the cadastral area of the village Lúka.
