Description:
A beautiful circular tour that is especially worthwhile when clouds hang over the Vosges mountains.
Above Colmar, in the hills, a beautiful circular hike passes three castles. We start near Hohlandsbourg, where you can park for free. Then through the primeval forest without major ascents past rock formations (worth seeing: Le rocher Turenne) to the Trois Chateaux, a collection of a total of three castle ruins from the 11th and 12th centuries. From here, it goes somewhat steeper downhill and via forest paths to the smaller ruin Chateau Hagueneck, where you can climb the tower. Finally, up the mountain back to Hohlandsbourg, the only castle that can only be visited for an entrance fee. Here, you should check the opening hours in advance, especially outside the summer season.
