Description: There's a good reason this is thought of as the world's hardest hike - this grueling Dolomites hike combines two already difficult routes into one incredibly challenging ascent. First, the hike starts by ascending thousands of feet through the Lagazuoi tunnels, a series of tunnels carved directly into the mountain that were used as buckers during WWI. Then, the route connects to the Tomaselli via ferrata, which is known as being the single most difficult via ferrata in the Dolomites, if not the entire world. But, reaching the summit of Punta Fanes Sud is only half the battle, as the via ferrata then continues back down the other side of the mountain, and the hike ends by navigating through an insanely steep scree field where anyone would be incredibly lucky NOT to fall.
