For climbers Tuscany and the Apuans are an island of splendid limestone not only with the immense crags of the Camaiore area, but also with the wild valleys that reveal to the view the great walls, upon which the history of mountaineering of this region is traced. A history that continues to live and renew itself with new paths in modern style, bolted, that alternate with the great classics. Some routes immersed in unspoiled nature, others embedded between the devastation of white marble quarries. Some of these itineraries bear important names and take part, in their small way, in the decade-long struggle to save this paradise from the havoc of the extractive industry.
