Sassi di Roccamalatina Park<br>Stone pinnacles of the Apennines<br>The Sassi di Roccamalatina Park protects 2,300 hectares of land on the hills of the Middle Modenese Apennines consisting of ancient chestnut groves, forests and crops, in whose center imposing sandstone pinnacles of the Sassi rise. A wide biodiversity of habitats concentrated in little space allows the presence of varied flora and numerous faunistic species, scattered across a wide variety of environments that add value to the protected territory: from chestnut groves in mountainous areas to clayey wastelands of low hills, from riparian forests of river gravels to karst phenomena of caves and sinkholes, from hilly crops to small medieval villages.
