Description:
After the source of the Kupa, we continued exploring Gorski kotar, but this time we headed to a bit higher altitude.⛰️ A foggy and mystical morning in which we enjoyed while driving through Gorski kotar gave us to know that the day would be excellent! Our first stop was PD Sušak on Platak, from where we set off on a 7 km trail towards Veliki Risnjak. Right at PD Sušak we see signposts directing us to a gravel road which soon turns into an excellently marked hiking trail and leads us to Cajtiga - junction and entrance to NP Risnjak where it is necessary to follow the sign for Risnjak or Snježnik. The plan was Risnjak and the trail first took us to Schlosserov dom and then to the summit of Veliki Risnjak at 1524m asl. The weather at the summit was perfect, light breeze, sun, clouds, the best that Risnjak can give us!⛅⛰️ We enjoyed the sun and views for almost an hour and then headed back to the hut for lunch and coffee. (we carried everything ourselves because the hut unfortunately doesn't operate). The original plan was after Risnjak to return to Cajtiga and then back to PD Sušak via Snježnik, but unfortunately the weather deteriorated and clouds overtook us so we decided to leave Snježnik as an excuse for another visit to Risnjak and Gorski kotar this fall.
