Baranec is a peak located in the Western Tatras. It reaches a height of 2184 m a.s.l., ranking third among the highest peaks in the Western Tatras. It forms a separate massif protruding from the main ridge of the Western Tatras. Due to its dominance over the Liptov Basin, it is also called Štít Liptova. From Baranec, assuming no clouds, there is a beautiful panoramic view in all directions, to Smrek, Plačlivé, Hrubý vrch, Tri kopy and other peaks.
