Willets and their unusual migration

Willets are found on both the East and Western coasts of the United
States and in the Great Basin of the West and are considered sub species of 'Tringa semipalmata' Some birds migrate north and south but some of the western subspecies seems to replace the South Carolina Willets that leave at the end of August to migrate south! Willets are active shore birds and in this video I discuss their habits, biology, habitat and migration as well as how to identify Willets and compare them to Sanderling sand pipers that they share the beach with. These birds are commonly seen running about and down the breaker zone of beaches.
