Winter trip to Șipote Waterfall, Apuseni Mountains

Description:
At -13 degrees Celsius frost we set off towards the upper waterfalls of Șipote. We started from Sălciua, from the bridge over Arieș. We found the upper waterfalls (not those at DN75) frozen, full of icicles. After many photos we continued towards Lunca Arieșului, through the forest, under Abrupturile Bedeleului. The area is part of two Natura 2000 sites, the Community Importance Site (SCI) Trascău and the Avifaunistic Importance Site (SPA) Munții Trascăului, hosting many protected habitats and species, rare or endangered. Access from Sălciua is on the red cross tourist marking.
