Description: Today February 4, 2016 - from the icy Piana del Gaver - we undertook a hike that turned out to be without a goal and of pure beauty. Actually, the intention was Cima Blumone. However, yesterday's snowfall greatly limited our steps, but gifted us with a landscape of absolute purity. Wind gusts swept snow from the surrounding peaks (Blumone, Scoglio di Laione). And as we proceeded along CAI trail no. 26, the depth of the snow became increasingly consistent. Upon reaching the new Bivacco Blumone, we thought we could stop there. But the temptation to sink up to our knees (we only had crampons) was irresistible in the immaculate plain that for a long stretch would indulge our euphoria. Arriving where the buried trail no. 26 starts to climb, we continued up the slope... and the last of us encouraged the first not to give up. Andrea and Walter, when they passed the snowdrifts that seemed insurmountable at sight, received applause. This allowed the group to reach the ruins of a probable Great War hospital. It was not possible to go further, and retracing our tracks, we returned to Gaver.
