Description:
Pastor Sebastian Bucher (pastor in Ingolstadt-Gerolfing) and Franciscan Brother René Dorer set out in August 2021 in the French part of the Swiss canton of Valais in the mountain village of Zinal for a breathtaking high tour. On the first day they ascended via Zinaltal to the "Cabane du Mountet" hut. After a short nap it was "reveille at 1:30". Over a moraine to the "Mountet Glacier" and over a snow ridge to the north ridge of Zinalrothorn. Via a ridge climb (IV UIAA) they reached the summit of "Zinalrothorn" (4221m). Then descent to Rothornhütte (SAC) and from there still on the same evening to Zermatt. That was a descent of 2600 meters.
