Description:
We set off from Cason di Lanza at 1550 meters elevation. Above our heads to the east towers Zermula with its 2145 meters but we head south along trail 442a which goes around Monte Pizzul. We deviate before reaching it aiming for the 1911 meters of Zuc della Guardia. We pass the tree line with the last larches of beautiful fresh green and reach a flat peat bog rich in the yellow of Caltha palustris. At the foot of the mountain the primula farinosa and primula orecchia d’orso attract our interest distracted by the presence of alpine soldanellas that emerge with violet corolla formed by delicate fringed petals where snow lingered until a few weeks ago.
