Krekovše

Description of mountain hut:
Krekovše is a saddle on the ridge of Idrija hills, which divides the valleys (gorges) of Idrijca on the north and Belca on the south. Northwest of the saddle rises Vrh Bata (935 meters), southeast Osrednik (866 meters), both are covered with forest. On the saddle, over which the Slovenian cross-country bike trail also leads, several unmarked paths and forest roads meet, and we will most likely visit it in connection with the klavže on Belca and/or Idrijski Lauf by Idrijca, both just below the ridge. Besides a few houses, the saddle is also home to the hunting cottage owned by LD Krekovše with some tables around it; nearby are a simple chapel and a memorial plaque to 27 hostages shot by the occupier on April 1, 1945. Views from the saddle itself are limited; nicer ones can be found from some access paths.
