Description:
Alpine leek (Allium victorialis) belongs to the onion family, flowers from June to August, grows from 30 to 50 cm tall. It grows on rocky nutrient-rich soils, moist mountain depressions, also in partial shade - we find it in our area on the Krvavec region as well as on the Ljubeljčica ridge, Triglav Lakes valley, Črna prst. It is found from 1000 to 2500 m. On tall stems - round in cross-section - there are corymbose inflorescences at the top with whitish-yellowish flowers. Inflorescences are conical before flowering. Leaves are 2-5 cm wide. Garlic scent. Even before flowering the leaves usually yellow as in all onions.
