Common Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
Description:
Common dandelion thrives almost everywhere in Slovenia. It can be observed from spring to the end of summer on meadows, along paths, on forest edges and elsewhere. Before the dandelion flowers, the toothed rosette leaves are suitable for salad. Then a yellow flower grows on top of the plant on which there are more than 100 (up to 200) florets. After flowering, in the place where the flower was, the dandelion clock grows, which the wind blows away and thus enables the dispersal of seeds far around. Common dandelion is also a medicinal plant as it improves blood and promotes urination.
