The identification of this knapweed is completely correct. C. jacea gaudinii is also used-it should be a subspecies of common knapweed or C. bracteata. It grows on dry meadows and sunny slopes mainly on Primorskem, so it is common for example on Vremščica, Nanos, Slavnik. Important for determination - involucral bracts have a torn, but not spiny, somewhat inflated appendage. Bracts are covered with soft white hairs.
