Given the remoteness it's no wonder there's no post on the forum. It's really not close, right at the end of Montenegro are the Prokletije, on the border with Kosovo and Albania, little known, little visited, but beautiful mountains. Although the highest were hiding in clouds and mists all the time and chasing us to the valley, they've inscribed themselves in a piece of the soul. Wild ones with heights over 2000m, with Montenegro's highest peak Zla Kolata (Evil Pastures somehow in translation) 2534m. Peak names starting with Maja (peak, e.g. Maja Jezerce, highest in Prokletije), mysterious valley names: Ropojana, Valbona, hundreds of mountain eyes, as they call the lakes, friendly people and guide, enthusiast for everything happening here. We stayed in Plav town by Plav Lake, excellent starting point for local tours. We climbed Popadija and Talijanka, two neighboring grassy two-thousanders, ascended Hridski Krš (2340m) past Hridsko Lake (over 2000), but the weather didn't let us reach Zla Kolata. Paths are well marked, starting points Plav, Gusinje and Vusanje. By the way we learned about the most beautiful Balkan trek called Peaks of the Balkans. Map is at home, definitely places I want to return to.

Unlike you, we had 10 days of sunny weather. Beautiful hills and mountains. Clean along the paths, enough water and guide (same as yours), you can only praise him.

Super! But this year Prokletije made up for us with 10 days of sun in Albania. Also worth every step and again a guide who led with heart.

I had Prokletije in mind for many years. I was there twice already and both times the weather failed and no ascent possible.

This year it finally worked. Shorter hike from Grebaje valley, but views probably the most beautiful in Montenegro.

At the beginning of July we roamed Prokletije in Montenegro for three days. First day we ascended from Grebaje valley to Popadija 2030m, Talijanka 2057m and Volušnica 1879m. From that circular path extraordinary views of Karanfili, located on the border between Montenegro and Albania. On the way back to Plav where we stayed, we also saw Alipašini Springs - the largest karst spring in CG. These waters flow into Plav Lake, from there the Lim River flows as a source. Second day we drove to Ropojana valley to Vusanje, from where we climbed the highest peak of Montenegro Zla Kolata 2535m. Fantastic views of Prokletije in Albania and Kosovo. On the return there followed a shorter ascent to neighboring Dobro Kolata 2525m. In the valley we saw another karst spring - Oko Skakavca. Third day we went to one of the highest lakes in CG - Hridsko Lake at 1980m. From there to Hridski Krš 2358m. Well spent days in this part of Montenegro.

Prokletije really remind me a lot of Julijci. Even when looking from Taljanka ridge towards Karanfili it's almost like from Karavanke looking at Martuljek group cool
Maja Jezerce also has a "Six Lakes" valley.
