Hello!
Please help. I'm interested in current conditions for access to the mentioned peaks. Here I aim at access from pastures under the peaks, as well as road access to the pastures.

To the alpine pastures no problem, further to Košuta summits it will be more delicate. Karavanke higher along ridges have quite thick wind-blown snow and sastrugi, not to mention extensive ridge cornices. So one must know how to assess and recognize snow terrain and move on it (if at all), and secondly thaw danger is approaching and with it avalanches, since there's so much snow and weight in places that it won't hold in many places on the mountain.

Or choose a more suitable goal, e.g. Struška, Debela peč, Tromeja, Vošca, Komna, Plešivec, Pršivec, Sorica, Kobilja glava, Matajur, Kobariški stol...

On Sunday there will be 0°C at 2500 m above Tržič, this is now the first time after this heavy snowfall after about 6 weeks, new snow has fallen 1-2m in this time in the Julian Alps 3m!
Since it was an identical story in January, it slid and then froze after a few days, conditions were super, when I was that day on Centralni to Vrtača, Palec, Zelenjak and Y Begunjščica, descent Šentanc.
Whether to go or not everyone knows themselves.

Looks like L.G. and JA met in January in Y on Begunjščica.:http://www.hribi.net/slike/biggrin.gif Really historic meeting. Jus who faithfully and critically (more jealously) follows everything L.G. writes on the forum and L.G. whom Jus's teasing doesn't bother at all. The guy is just loaded with condition and I don't doubt he could do 2x winter Triglav too, if that wasn't plain stupidity.

Doesn't occur to you to write something general about conditions and these few degrees above 0 for the weekend. You say Begunjščica is your home polygon, you're a member of AO.... you'd rather discover warm water, than maybe save someone here from possible avalanche. Hope someone was at least there and will describe conditions or tomorrow more will be written.

Today in real summer weather to Veliki vrh. In the morning below Matizovec still pleasantly cool, then temperature rises with altitude. Warmest at the height of the hut on Kofce. For ascent from hut onwards just a T-shirt sufficed. Path well marked, same for junction to Kladivo. Small snow patch just below summit, but easily crossed. Light breeze on top, but still warm. Due to crowds descended straight down, avoided hut, along pasture fence to woods then marked path to start.

Not for now, everything up there is dry like in spring, but watch out for slipping on frozen grass!
