Blind and visually impaired on Triglav?

Print
skalar5021. 07. 2023 00:45:47
Is the information in the media correct that one of the organizers of this fresh action (consequently forced overnight stay in Kovinarska koča) was also PZS? If the answer is affirmative - who in PZS is responsible for carrying out the action at a time when ARSO published an orange, later also red alert? Have the responsible persons in PZS read the response to this move, which is publicly defended by PZS expert collaborator Mr. Šerkezi, head of Slovenian CZ Mr. Šestak and e.g. also meteorologist Mr. Gregorčič?

Yes, I agree with the concerns.
Let them pay for the rescue, just not from our pockets and membership fees. And I'm not biased against different ones, but against those responsible, as they knowingly led hikers into bad conditions.

They wriggle out nicely. But they were lucky, nothing else.

Regarding calls for payment of rescue, you're already boring. Why do mountaineers beat on mountaineers too? Isn't it enough that others constantly hammer about this rescue payment. Members of PZS are insured with membership fee anyway. Only for abroad, because in Slovenia rescue is still free or we all pay for it. And not only mountaineers, but everyone who has something happen anywhere.
The most upset are those "on the couch", where it's really hard to have an accident. But health deteriorates and consequently burdens healthcare. More often than with mountaineers!
That they don't charge foreigners anything for rescue, especially those not injured in the accident, is not very understandable.

It seems that mountaineers have also fallen for these sensationalist media of ours, for whom shock value is more important than truth. No one was rescued from Triglav or mountain paths, but from the mountain hut in the valley, where they were stuck due to the closed road. Isn't the purpose of the hut also to provide shelter to people? And this Gregorčič is pontificating, when just two weeks ago he was apologizing when it rained unexpectedly all night.

I'm generally for including blind and otherwise disabled people in society, but this conquering of Triglav and the Slovenian Trail in general seems to me a desperate shot in the dark and already on the edge of absurdity. Triglav is already increasingly crowded in summer anyway and it helps no one to have an additional 50 people on the summit who can't see even one step whether they might send a package of stones on someone below. To carry this out on the day when bad weather is forecast (regardless of whether they were already in the valley or not), is just goodbye sensemrk pogled.

In our country no rescue is free, since we all pay for it from the state budget, into which our taxes from salaries are contributed, that's all about it.

Evacuation of 120 trapped hikers from Krma valley, among whom was also the group of blind and visually impaired with escorts

But the other 30 are OK?

We shouldn't look so narrowly only at money and costs. People who find themselves in trouble come first. At that time we shouldn't look who is guilty and what went wrong. In trouble you recognize a friend, whether our people or our guests from abroad. Shame on anyone who even thinks and looks only through the prism of money. nasmeh
Let rescuers be an example, who selflessly expose themselves to all dangers during rescue.

Interesting and "interesting" to read the above comments. Although I'm not a fan of writing off the top of my head and thank God everyone can write their opinion, I just don't share it with "dragon". I don't know how much his (professional) knowledge of Slovenian media is, but just like that, all in one basket, maybe it's not right to lump them. The point of my introductory post was actually somewhere else, which some of you easily recognized. I hope this forum and mountaineers' thoughts are read at least occasionally by some current PZS officials...

Just one recent example from mountaineering or alpinistic circles. Article title:-Tragic: Slovenian alpinist died. Further on we can read it's an 87-year-old former alpinist. Why such a title? What does someone imagine under that title?
I'm no expert in media, but I follow them every day and see where it's all going. In all fields and not just marginal media. And God forbid criticizing journalists, they are a protected specieszavijanje z očmi

Media sensationalism is nothing new, a big institution protecting itself and its projects and sometimes going near the gray zone, that's not new either. nasmeh

And I don't know if someone above already wrote this, but people stuck in the hut in Krma is still far from a mountain accident, even if they had to send a team due to windthrow on the road...

"They just had luck, nothing else" - ugh, how many times have we all had it velik nasmeh and how many times someone just had a bit of bad luck that something went really wrong...

@dragon, I remember that article yeah zadrega
Or that one, already a textbook case of misleading titles... "Fukala out for 6 weeks" but in the article "Czech footballer Milan Fukal injured his leg and will be out for 6 weeks..."

Here I immediately wondered what kind of rescue action that is if people are in the hut?

and maybe more directly: do you go to the mountains, especially high mountains, if ARSO issues an orange and then red alert for the area?
