Burning soles

Hi, wife has La Sportiva hiking boots, with which she's very satisfied, lately after longer hikes her soles burn. Is there maybe a solution in some insoles, socks? We both have excellent socks, I have no problems with that.

Try to loosen the laces as much as possible, especially in the front part.

Toni-k you have ZS.
As for the laces, if they are too tight, it might be cramping, burning soles are something else.
Best regards!

I have similar problems with new hiking boots Asolo Eldo Mid LTH GV, soles burn terribly and hurt after 2 hours of walking. To solve it I changed socks, loosened laces, changed insoles, etc..... but nothing helps.
They advertise them as agile light boot, breathable and waterproof. But I have such problems with them as not for a long time zmeden....
Previously I had very good experiences with Asolo boots...
Is there any solution at all? Thanks.

If you have wider feet and boots are narrow no solution and they won't break in buy others. Everything else is waste of time and money.

It's not the problem, but thanks for the advice anyway. That option will come too nasmeh

I'm interested how long she's used to walk at once, 5-6-10 h. Question also for what terrain the La Sportiva boots are intended. Need to find suitable socks. It also helps to turn the socks inside out. Then the smooth outer side is on the skin. Of course then left sock on right foot right sock on left. Regards J. Socks should be snug.

Hi, all problems you mention with burning soles despite good footwear are in the lumbar spine area. Info from first hand.nasmehmežikanje

From first hand I can tell you, I also ran into similar boots (scarpa) some time ago. With them I only did ascent to Spodnji Rokav. On the way back I almost took them off. Never wore them again. With half cheaper ones I walk hours without problem.

Thanks for comments.
I think it's not the lumbar spine problem because it happens to me only with this newer Asolo model. Previous experiences with 4 models of same manufacturer were excellent.
Also mention that problems increase with higher temperatures.
Does anyone have similar experiences with Asolo Eldo MID LTH GV model?

@jaz*
Believe what I wrote. I struggled with burning soles for many years, tried many things, until a physiotherapist from Domžale explained some issues to me, now I follow her instructions - no problems if followed.
Not problem in boots. True, boot must fit your foot, but even if best variant and still problem, think about spine issues.
Best regards!

I had the same problems as I myself*, and thank God I've never had any issues with my spine in my life. In almost fifty years of "mountaineering career" I had this problem only once and only once, which couldn't be solved any other way than by getting rid of those boots. They fit like a glove, comfortable, quality, one of the more expensive Alpine models (around 2004). After an hour, at most two, of walking, the sole became unbearably burning and painful. If I changed into sneakers, both disappeared in a quarter of an hour and then I could walk in sneakers all day without any problems. I changed quite a few insoles and socks, costs piled up to almost a third of the price of the boots, but no luck. Then one fine day I decided to "donate" the boots, threw them in the trash container and a quarter of an hour later they were gone. All previous and later mountain boots, dozens, currently I have six that I use alternately, at most slightly blistered me at the beginning, and even that really rarely. If you haven't had similar problems before, the only solution is probably different boots.

I'll add my opinion on burning soles.... it really depends on the boots nasmehnasmeh

when I had Hanwag boots - like slippers for 10 years, I just changed the soles - rubber in Šiška. Well, they almost fell apart and I had to get really new boots and bought Kayland ones. Barely got down from Bašelj peak - soles were burning abnormally. I go to Kibuba and exchange with receipt for Salewa, because almost everyone praises them so much, I thought maybe these will be good. Same thing happened, after 3 hours of walking soles started burning the same way, so I went to the shop that sold those boots. Tried at least 5 times and always the same. In Hanwag I could walk 12 hours and more, and didn't even know I had anything on my feet - so it really, really depends on what you buy. I emphasize, if they had summer Hanwag, I would, of course, buy that brand, but they didn't have, I have winter ones from Anapurna, because they only have them there.

So, it's not the spine, but really depends what boot you buy nasmehnasmeh

I agree with predecessors - really depends what "your feet" like best - Here simply no good and bad boots but only microdetails of the boot that suit you better than others. Same I had problems with soles - Bought Lowe, Mammut and La Sportiva and some xy - ended up with Salewa, which I now change only by color nasmeh Good luck choosing mežikanje

Back problems mostly solved by chiropractor! If issues within his scope. He really rejuvenated me. Been using his services for eight years. Which we unfortunately have to pay for here. No referral to chiropractor, but painkillers!?
Regarding boots, it's as Matija wrote. Not dependent on price, but on what "fits you".

Yes, chiropractor, ...
He can also make you lame, ... helps some, others better not until you have MR images.

There can really be more factors. They diagnosed me with Morton's neuroma and I manage it quite successfully with insoles. But actually in some boots they "work" much better than in others. Especially noticeable when I don't wear insoles for a long time (summer and "fancy shoes", where they can't be put).

Everyone can think as they like, they're right, but I still claim that burning soles are connected to the lumbar spine. When changing boots, various insoles ... it's all then connected to the lumbar part, because you step differently, the lower part from the ankle behaves differently, you don't even realize it.
I won't comment more on this, because you're reinventing the wheel. mežikanje

“Yes, chiropractor, ...

Without images you can't get treatment anyway, unless you go to a quack.
Yes, I also had bad opinion about them. Due to not knowing their work, scaremongering,…
But, in the end physiotherapist recommended a good chiropractor to me, because she couldn't help me! Still grateful to her. Because he helped me also with consequences of facial paresis. Sorry only that I didn't have this option in youth. Now young people use this service en masse. They fix things on time. Health system we just pay and pay and wait..., and doctors on checkups really don't like to hear if you tell them about good effects of chiropractic. At least that's my experience.
Uh, got carried away. But we're talking about boots. Best advice for boots is, throw them away if you have problems with them. And don't buy boots that aren't super on your foot already in the store.

Salewa fits my foot best and I've never had issues with them. Buy new and on 3rd hike (first two short one-hour for breaking in) after about 8 hours soles start burning. Take off boots, rest feet a bit and change socks to thin summer ones. Problem solved
