As the weather forecasters predicted, this was the last sunny day of the week. With a colleague, we drove from Uke (Ugovizza) in the Kanalska valley to the starting point for Lepi vrh and Kovk, then up on skis. Of course everything was already ski-tracked, nevertheless a nice tour, good snow and clear and wide views. The real winter idyll was disturbed only by a slight opposing SW wind.

Fantastic ski peak - I've already found it on the map! Nice from Triglavski, that it gave us another sunny and moderate day, because ten-day forecast (Stari vrh) promises nothing encouraging, except another 1m of new snow.

We two also headed to Kovk, but then preferred to continue on the path and climbed only Lepi Vršič via forest trail. At the top there were eight of us, most Austrians. Down we skied the opposite ridge. Truly fairy-tale landscape. For the rest, just as Ksenija wrote. I too was prepared for -15! Better this way than the reverse!

We too had the same plans and changes as Sabina. But we started only at one, so there were no more crowds, and we admired the sunset too. "Cold" ensured that the snow didn't change at all.

Today finally after two weeks back on skis . It seemed to me that the virus took quite a bit of my strength in that time, so the decision for this easy tour to Lepi Vršič was perfect for today.
At 10:30 at the starting point it looked like another nice ski trip from car to car, but in the afternoon it turned out differently. Temperatures were above zero all day and snow in the lower part visibly melted in a few hours, so on the return we had to take off our skis beforehand (a few dozen steps, but we were still surprised by it). It is also visible that at least below there was no base for new snow, so the turns were literally to the grass. Otherwise, up to 30 cm of new snow (most of it stayed in the forest), but it was already quite worn during our skiing. There were quite a few visitors today, all on skis, but we were the only ones representing "Slovenian" colors , all others were Italians and Austrians. The weather was a real "cocktail" of fog, clouds, wind and sun… but there was the most sun to our joy . Wonderful views, what they must be like in clear visibility!

Since Easter is later this year and there are no more conditions for ski touring here, we went on foot to Kovk and Lepi vršič. The weather was nice, a SW wind was blowing but it didn't spoil the Easter "southern" on top of Kovk and the nice views all around.
Conditions for walking were pleasant, mostly the path is bare, only the last 100 meters of altitude from the saddle to the top of Kovk is still under snow. Snow breaks through but with a little attention you can find bare passages too. Continuing to Lepi vršič was easy, as the ridge is already bare. From the top we had the eastern Karnics like on the palm and already chose the next goal.
On the way back to the valley we stopped at the farm tourism "Rosic" with the friendly Gorenjka and finished our Easter hike.

Val Uque, Ukve valley is the right place to see how winter looks at the beginning of winter. The road was slightly dusted in the morning, but not slippery. I drive to farm tourism Rosič. 3-4 cm snow. Day still cloudy, but clears up quickly. I go along the road, admire the mountains around, many nice motifs for photos, but the camera is rather poor. First I go to the saddle between Kovk (Monte Cocco) and Lepi Vršič (Cima Bella), view towards Mokrine is superb. I climb to Kovk, but since SW wind is blowing, I quickly go back down. Follows ascent to Lepi Vršič, then descent to the border saddle (Forc. di Fontana Fredda). A little refreshment, then along the hunting trail towards Goričanska planina. Above the pasture I find connection with marked path 403 and go to Starhand (GorazdG has something new about Slovenian name). From the west it clouds up in between, light snowing, occasional fog. From Starhand I return to the junction for planina Dolinca pod Ojstrnikom, I continue and in a slight ascent reach Konjščica (Monte Sagran). On the cross there's still the board with inscription (Who has never loved mountains, has lost much in life), and how true that is. From Konjščica down the western ridge to Mrzlo sedlo and by road to the starting point. I've had this planned for years, been to all peaks many times, most often on skis, today in just 6 hours I visited all four peaks. Weather wonderful, couldn't have better, really nice on these "hills". At the end I stopped at Sabina's in Trbiž.
