Cortina d'Ampezzo

Also this year, as in the last few years, once traditionally I visit Cortina d'Ampezzo and do one bike tour, of which there are plenty there. To Cortina we go via Tolmezzo and over Passo Mauria. There a quite fresh morning awaits us, as the temperature was only 5 degrees above zero. But soon after the start a little higher sun rays shine on us and the temperature rises quickly. After 10 km from the main road for Passo Falzarego we turn left onto a side narrow asphalted path No. 425, which leads towards the hut Cinque Torri. The road climbs quite steeply and is asphalted to the hut. From the junction to the hut is 4 km. Here incredible views open up and one doesn't know which way to turn. From the hut we go a little further and a bit higher we reach hut Scoiattoli, which is at height 2252 m. Here we have the famous Cinque Torri as on the palm of our hand, since they are only about 200 m away. Tofana di Rozes, Nuvolau and Averau are nicely visible. And right there between them stands hut Averau, which was in our plan, but which we sadly had to abandon due to too much snow on the path there. At hut Scoiattoli we stop for an hour and decide for plan B, which I had prepared just in case. We decided to visit also lake Federa, which lies under Croda da Lago. From the hut we descend back the same path and a little before the main road we turn right onto a marked forest gravel path, which then brings us to the road which leads to Passo Giau. Here on the road we descend 200 m lower and turn right onto path No. 434, which then brings us to the previously mentioned lake. But this path is in very poor condition and is very steep and ruined. The bike has to be mostly pushed, sometimes even carried. In three of five km we made as much as 500 m ascent. The last km and a half can be ridden. But because of this beauty which is in the lake surroundings all this effort and strain is forgotten, as the views and reflections in the lake are really fairytale-like. Height here 2046 m. From here we descend to pasture Federa, where we stop a bit and enjoy the beauties and views towards Cortina and its surroundings a bit more. From here towards the valley leads a narrow steep asphalted road. On the way we stop also at lake Pianoze and then ride to the starting point where we started. This tour is certainly one of my nicest and most picturesque that I have done so far and deserves a pure 10.

This is what Mr. VanSims wrote in his blog:
""How Italians enjoy positions of otherwise insignificant little people, who are not even some official person, but in the function of 'important' commanding people, is known to everyone who has traveled in this country (parking lots, ferries, toll collectors,...). He is the main one there! During his service time. Outside of it he lives a boring, empty or even frustration-filled life... he has his substitute satisfaction, no need to strive for more...""

I read . . . and once again . . . and a third time, carefully!
And I don't understand how someone can label another person, whom he sees for the first time and probably the last time in his life, so ugly, low, malicious, corrupt... just based on what that person does. The job requires him to maintain order and therefore this person should be frustrated, live a boring life etc. Oh boy! such a psychologist jezen

Some master psychology, fewer master the weather above Cortina, although there is just for the mentioned place one of the best weather forecasts velik nasmeh

Hi Igor!

If you're only going for 5 days to the Ampezzo Dolomites, of course you can forecast the weather at least for the first few days.

But if this area is just one (and the last) stop on a circular tour through the Alps and a bit beyond, then you simply can't do that. mrk pogled

Around Cortina I planned 4 tours in five days. I took one day as reserve anyway, so only one tour slipped away, which will be for next time when I come back here, which I definitely plan. cool

Thanks to all commentators, the number of clicks on the article has probably skyrocketed again right because of the first comment.

The blog readership is the most indicative to me, not the number of obviously manipulated pluses and minuses on this portal.

VanSims, "Blog readership is the most indicative for me, not the number of obviously manipulated pluses and minuses on this portal." I completely agree and probably many other site visitors too. With such nice descriptions, the Slovenian folklore-known fovšija is often present too. And these gentlemen hide behind a justified or even more willingly unjustified minus or babble something pointless. The number of clicks on the article is a much more realistic popularity rating. Good luck further!

"or babble something without sense"

lino,
what turbo commented is harder to label as "babbling without sense". He expressed his opinion on VanSims' opinion and that's it. If someone adds a thumbs up to it, it just means they agree with that opinion.
Or is expressing one's opinion perhaps forbidden?zmeden
I don't see any fovšija here, and it surprises me even more that this is supposed to be Slovenian folklore. Since when and according to which survey?
Among the "gentlemen" who hide, you belong too, lino.mežikanje

As for VanSims' blog and his route descriptions that he does, it's a pleasure to look at them, even though they're not always about current conditions and sometimes I don't agree with something written. Well, not everyone agrees with my or your posts either. It's not the end of the world because of that.

Yeah, obviously many recognized themselves in this security guard's personality, that's why so much anger. Is it any different with us?

Well, I don't know if this "enjoying positions" is characteristic only of Italy. I wouldn't want to generalize, but also with us many with the above-described functions fit this description. Slon and Sadež didn't write those songs about city wardens for nothing...

It happens like that with us too. At least it happened to me. Once this year when I was in Vrata valley. I didn't even know that at 22 o'clock the TNP guard drives up and shines into every parked car there, if someone is sleeping in it, because it's forbidden. I was just sitting in the car when he shone into the car. Since I was alone, it was a bit strange for him and he checked the area around the car if I'm hiding someone. And to my question if I can sit in the car he barked to go sleep in the hut. I preferred to drive aside with not very pleasant feelings.
