Some observations yesterday from grassy ridges above Vransko to Čreta. Walked a bit below Peternišek over Peterniškov grič up, past the climbing crag to Dom na Čreti, circled Zahojnikov vrh and back over Stopniški grič (names copied from map). Didn't take pics, nice day didn't feel like it path over Peterniškov grič is well trodden and partly marked, but start is tricky. It's by the road lower (vikendi), higher there's weird situation with end of road (both directions) full of handmade warning signs (fierce dogs, beware fierce dogs, private, private - passage forbidden etc...) so didn't go there Over Stopniški grič it's partly pathless, hence nicer. Won't meet people here, some sections blocked by fallen trees. Recommend on nice weather.

Better avoid that area with "fierce dogs". Don't know current situation, but years ago they attacked a person. Though nice path, been avoiding it since. Also apparently dog/owner issue somewhere on path from Sv. Jošt or Tolsti vrh to Vransko, and some shooting range nearby...?

Felt like it, because I've never seen such warnings anywhere before. But there's a trodden path I mentioned (from vikendi a bit lower - junction unmarked but well trodden), which completely bypasses that area. Higher we reach the ridge clearing, even higher we join the marked path (wooden marks - hop leaf). At Sv. Jošt last year in fog I met a loose huge dog, but very friendly. Once I recovered from fright, we "chatted" a bit.

Path has been rerouted couple years, so doesn't go past Planinc and Ptica farms anymore, no worry. That sarplaninec or karst shepherd dog, can't remember exact breed, can't live 20 years.

biba Right. Marked path blocked by strong electric fence impassable, landowner put up sign about private property and forbidden passage. Problem is you can't get from Sv. Jošt to Vransko anymore except via Čreta, which you don't do if you're coming from there. Did circular from Vransko to Čreta, Tolsti vrh and Sv. Jošt few times, descending to start, but not anymore. Pity cuz really nice loop.

Last five days on Čreta. Five times Križ, five times a bit different. There was a bit of everything, from climbing, scrambling, exploring, excellent trekking and walking on pathless terrain. On old Čreta the walls nicely face the sun, on the north they maintain partial humidity, as does the ground too. Čreta never disappoints. Good luck!

#Zoran you're advertising this topic so nicely that I visited some areas this afternoon also from the Zadrečka side. Otherwise it looks like the classic from Krokarije (up over Tajno, down over Farbanca), but I didn't walk circularly; instead I visited some targeted goals (pics). I didn't know that from the Kraple farm such a nice view can be seen; I sat for a long time and sipped the beauty. Thanks for the ideas from the posts. lp

Hello Čreta lovers (however many of you there are)! Yesterday late afternoon I talked with a friend and since Čreta is dear to both our hearts—climbing to him, more hiking to me—the talk quickly turned to these beautiful areas. He told me that once along the road in the direction from Čreta towards Vransko, on the right, a bit further from the E6 junction for Tolsti vrh, he noticed an attached iron ladder that leads higher under the walls, in which one route is bolted (supposedly Gučkova), and there are markings too. This ladder wasn't known to me, as I mostly take paths from the S side of the range, so curious as I am, I immediately jumped in the car and drove to pick blueberries, to see how and what. It was already late. I found the ladder right away and set off on a short exploration. I approached under the walls, noticed the bolted route and markings too. I looked around a bit and followed the overgrown path in the western direction, towards Ropasija. Despite the markings the path is quite hard to follow and after about half an hour it brought me to an isolated chapel in the forest (el. candles still work). From there the path descends south with markings. I figured it leads to the valley and didn't continue down, as the day was approaching its end. Instead I turned right onto an indistinct ridge and soon, still far away, noticed the walls above Ropasija and the cross (viewpoint) on Čreta. There I ended and turned back in the direction I came. When I got home, I looked at two maps of the area and nowhere did I see a drawn path that would lead where I was. I'm curious if anyone happens to know this path, which is nominally marked and must be (IMHO) part of the paths leading to Čreta from Vransko? An abandoned path? Who knows?....

@zokipoki, that's the charm of exploring. Unfortunately don't know. From which junction do you mean? At Ručgar farm? Lp, Nino
