I agree, Gorska planika went direct up mulatiera (pic 3), not Scalini saddle nor Škrbina prednje špranje. Explains 8.45h time.
Anyway, Gorska planika tour excellent!

If you'd gone to Škrbina prednje Špranje too, it'd be 8h50min. mežikanje

Really nice tour. I know you enjoyed it. I prefer opposite direction though.

confused me cuz a bit above Krni dol there was sign right to Corsi hut, but we decided to go left on path - thinking they join zadrega

Super, puzzle in my head solved! Thanks all nasmeh

Path is fantastic and time stops here, legs just walk themselves...

Gorska planika - be proud of what you two hiked. Doesn't matter if not started at Škrbina prednje Špranje. You did most of Ceria Merlone path, Leva path and to Montaž - what more do you want?

On Friday we went on path Pecol - Findenegg glacier - Montaž - Pipan ladder - Leva path - Špik Hude police - Ceria Merlone path to Cregnedul notch - Pl. Krni dol - Pecol.
Beautiful day with ibex on gorgeous path, well marked and normally passable, just one step broke off on Pipan ladder.

Arrow points to koča Brazza, Kaninsko pogorje behind.

In a sweltering weekend we sought the most open terrain and clearly many like-minded folks were around velik nasmeh

. Never met so many people at once in these parts, at least not at that hour. They were scrambling everywhere, even where you usually barely see anyone.

We picked the Montaž traverse continuing via Leva and Ceria Merlone paths, ending with descent to Krni dol pasture. All fixed protections renewed along the whole route, except to Findenegg glacier and Pipan chimney. The latter is more problematic due to falling scree and difficult passing than its state.

Descent on overgrown mule track to Krni dol pasture is well-trodden now, just don't miss the start. Pasture's open this year, various snacks available. Payment's a joke… pay what you pay, but expect at least appropriate amount nasmeh

. Road return to start ain't thrilling, but we're used to it. Total 21 km / 2060 m gain. More in photo story...

The parking lot was unusually full for such an early hour.

Saddle. Here we head left towards Findeneggov ozebnik.

The path is eroded and marked, but not suitable for everyone by any means.

Soon an exposed traverse along ledges to the glacier begins.

In this direction too there were so many people as I had never met before.

On the ozebnik helmet is mandatory mainly due to careless forerunners.

The locals are already used to visitors.

Montaž, so many people that we hardly got our turn for photos.

Short break and we continue. Our final goal is still very far away

We managed the scree well, descended without slipping :)

We continued on the Leva path and its attractive ledges

Not so many visitors here, so this local was more curious

This one has experienced quite a bit. Judging by its behavior, it is in the late autumn of its life

Špik nad Nosom and bivouac Luca Vuericha. This alpinist died in the walls of our Prisanka.

One of the nicer bivouacs, still exceptionally well-maintained after all these years.

House rules in multiple languages. We should mandatorily introduce this in all our bivouacs.

Interior. For some years now, lighting powered by solar cells has been functioning.

In the vicinity of the bivouac, there are always some ibexes.

We're further along. One more photo of Špik nad Nosom for memory.

Ceria Merlone … the path visible in the photo runs a bit below the middle.

This is approximately what ledge traversing looks like.

The chamois kid is still clinging to its mother :) As befits youth, it was curious and scared at the same time.

View back at Merlonka and the wonderful passages along the ledges.

The protection is sufficient, but there should be no fear of heights nonetheless.

This summit is not difficult either, the path runs below it.

At this passage, you used to hang on the rope; now the protections have been moved.

To descend via the old military mule track, continue straight here.

Some descend also over this scree, for which I see no real sense.

Planina Krni dol. This year it's alive, in the previous few consecutive years there was no one.

After a few kilometers of road, we're already at the photo finish :)

Luca Vuerich died in Prisank carried by avalanche, his friend survived but died later too. While skiing from Jalovec he fell into Loški žleb. Memory of them lives on. Regards!

About a year ago with PD Škofja Loka society only from Pekol pasture to Špik nad Nosom, as cables further torn. Bivouac on peak really beautiful. Enthused us all. You did wonderful tour. Three yrs ago to Montaž from Zajzera via ferrata - really long then to glacier on Montaž. Right at glacier start that annoying jump hard for me to climb, no issues after. Been over glacier 3x past years to top, jump always troubles me - short arms. This year retirees wanted Pekol pasture in spring but road closed for repairs. First time ~10 yrs ago from Pekol on Ceria-Merlone path descended to Krni dol as too long back if full, car at start. Met my controller then who watches I don't break him too much in mountain path descriptions.

Since no report this year on what I think one of the nicest, definitely most scenic traverse in Julians, adding mine from 21.8.
Due to snow conditions north (Amalia) went up from south this time. Tough carrying snow gear on such long route.
Start Pecol around 8am, classic up Findenegg, no one ahead so no dodging rocks. Chimney empty, so zipped down it instead of old path. More hikers on Leva, luckily let me pass nicely. At Špik Hude police lots of people, skipped it. Then blissful peace on Ceria Merlone.
Below Špik nad Špranjo experienced something unique, at least never to me. Round rock, on ledge ~50m ahead five(!) bearded vultures lounging on rock ledge. Spotted me, three flew off, two stayed. Bit annoyed only phone not my Oly with 12-100, took distant shots then sneaked like mouse to ledge and close-up with phone. Got some pics before they flew.
All protections good, Ceria Merlone superbly secured.
Descended mulatjera from Vrh Krnega dola to pasture. Big mulatjera fan, usually masterfully built pleasant downhill. Though gradual, took just 1h15 to Krni dol. Years ago tricky to follow spots, now gaining popularity well-trodden. Much better than to ŠPŠ descent.
Only annoying bit 3km road walk back to Pecol.
Total ~11hrs including breaks.
