Very windy on Deska today. Touring skier I met said he was picking up skis from nearby bushes where wind blew them eek

Otherwise nice weather, snow on top wind-polished and hard as concrete. Took some nice scenes for greeting cards velik nasmeh

To Deska from Lučka Bela via Stare stale and Vodotočnik. From Vodotočnik to summit on trail over west slope. Descent via Lastovec to junction of hunter's path leading under Lastovec to Stare stale. Along hunter's path to junction of path leading down valley to Šibje pasture. Path very hard to follow. In last third all downed due to storm damage, so couldn't follow path and descended very steeply off-trail.

Today to Tolsti vrh-Veža and Deska. Conditions mixed, sinking to the knees to the hard base where crampons really came in handy. Road drivable to 1200m, i.e. junction to pl. Ravne, can go higher but harder to park by road. Quite some visitors, mostly touring skiers and some of us hole-diggers velik nasmeh

Some snapshots from today's Deska and Lastovec. Road normally drivable to junction for planina Ravne, further so-so velik nasmeh

On top as usual snow blown and hard, on return to valley already thawing.
A bit windy, otherwise hot cool

Yesterday (Wednesday, April 20), from below Planina Podvežak over the saddle below Tolsti vrh to Deska summit and back the same way.

Aladin's cloud forecast for the afternoon showed the clouds would clear. So I set off a bit later. And sure enough hit the road closure over Črnivec, which is apparently closed at least until April 26. Detour via Tuhinjska dolina was looong, roads being renovated there too in places.

A few cm of snow starts around 1450m. On Planina Podvežak a military helicopter kept me company for a while, above it a bit more new snow but on indeterminate base. Broke a new trail, occasionally sank annoyingly over knees, otherwise ok. Below saddle between Tolsti vrh and Deska path is bare, to summit a bit mixed. Dozens of meters below summit spotted two ptarmigans. Don't know birds much, hope they really were. Didn't get too close but nice to watch.

Fog hit me at summit. No Aladin magic lantern to find start of snowy path past Lastovec, so backtracked my own trail.

Below Planina Podvežak around 6pm someone finally flicked the light switch. Clouds cleared, sun came out. Late afternoon blue sky all around. Bit late for my visit up there, no biggie! Happy for sun rays even where I was.

The path under the saddle was almost snow-free.

The signpost at the saddle is something special.

In the end the sun always breaks through.

If anyone was yesterday or today at Podvežak or Planina Ravne, please provide information if the gravel road from Planinšek is normally drivable after the recent heavy rain

Left car at Podvežak - Ravni junction. Could've driven 100m higher to tire tracks, but didn't, 100m up or down!
Along snowy road next to a few days-old footprints to parking below hut. Tracks continue to hut, I turn left into untouched snow blanket towards Brežiči. Drink at lk and into forest. Knew ascent through forest in crust would be nastiest, but luckily well-dried snow, not too bad. Lastovec slope windblown, just occasional drift, so ascent to Deska not difficult. Descended marked path, which was more packed and drifted. Nice trip in great weather. Winter gear stayed in pack. Snow on hut to 30cm, higher and drifts more, and so till at least Tuesday. On return saw someone with 4x4 who drove higher from junction but gave up and stopped halfway.

Yesterday probably one of last descents this year, but this one was very good, true you have to carry skis a bit on bare ground, but worth it.

Unlike Viševnik and Debele peči, yesterday on Tolsti vrh and Deska no living soul except us.
Parked at Podvežak - Ravni junction, road ahead snowy. Already to Planinšek had to drive carefully, upper part quite icy.
To Vodol on marked, and on to Tolsti vrh and Deska. Ascent no issues, here and there to knees in snow, otherwise pleasant walking. Descended over Lastovec, past hunter's hut back to car. Descent very uncomfortable due to strong wind.
